We Are Smiling

We are smiling!

12 x 16, oil on gallery wrapped canvas

$350

Do you remember the first time your kid rode the chairlift?  How exciting that was for them?  And for you?  How many times you pulled out your phone to take a picture?

I remember.

I remember being scared to death that they would slip under the chairlift bar, they were so tiny.  I would tell them, “I want to see both your hands on the bar at all times!”

Still, I took the pictures.

I probably had an arm reaching for their leg, or I fumbled with my phone as fast as I could to click hoping I wouldn’t drop it off the chairlift. But it didn’t stop me from documenting the moment, because my heart melted at the thought that my little monkeys were achieving something big.  They were so stoked to be on the lift.  You could feel the excitement, the thrill, and the eagerness. I wanted to capture that feeling.

I’m pretty sure, that if you’re a mom or a dad, getting your kids out on the slopes, you know exactly what I mean. I’m betting you also shot a few pictures of your own.

And I don’t know about you, but I would habitually say, “Smile!” before I snapped.
