I love Christmas, and I love getting into the holiday spirit. I’m not a fan of the hustle and bustle, but when all is said and done, it always makes me happy to see the decorations hung and the trees lit up.
One of my favourite things, is to see a tree decorated in the great outdoors. When our family stumbles across a tree that someone decorated outside, on a trail, or in a park, that is clearly not the city’s doing, I imagine that family’s tradition of getting outside for a walk with their kiddos, probably some hot chocolate in thermoses, and towing Christmas balls in their sled.
We have come across these on our walks in Fernie, but also on our walks in Calgary. Every year, in Calgary, there are a few trees in the local dog park, that have decorations that appear on them. Every year, after Christmas the decorations disappear. And every year, on my dog walks, when I notice that these trees have been decorated once again, they truly bring me joy.
Enjoy your family traditions this season and spread love and kindness to those who simply don’t get enough of it.
