There is a common sight in Fernie that brings me much joy: The Super Moms.
I see them.
I see them with push bikes in their backpacks. I see them with bikes hanging off their chariots. I see them with towies heading up Montane. I see them hiking up mountains with kids in their backpacks. I see them picking up fallen littles. And I see them towing kids on ski-outs all over the ski hill.
Through the sweat and tears, I see their high fives, I hear their words of encouragement, I feel their unwavering support, and I see them do it again…and again…and again.
They are incredible role models. They foster the love of the outdoors in their kids and teach them to play outside. This empowers our future generation to love our planet and to be active. It puts them one step ahead, on the direct path toward health and wellness.
And this is a real superpower.
I love it when my kids see other moms get their kids out too. I value active living, and to see it daily, is a real gift: so many Super Moms in one single small town. There’s a community of strong-willed mamas in Fernie, who are well on their way to raising respectful, nature loving, little human beings. That makes Fernie special, and it makes me feel really good to be able to say I live here.
This piece celebrates the Super Moms of the valley. Keep up the hard work!
